Time Past 1895 from BELONGING Furniture Series, from a CURIOUS Cabinet

Will Henry’s first letter (in chronological order) to his younger brother Hugh, was written from the Townsville Grammar School in 1895. The letter is upholstered on this cushioned chair back which I discovered at a garage sale.  It is wall hung as a formal painting might be and framed by a carved timber surround.  In shape it is not unlike a headstone and this padded backrest resonates with vestiges of another past.
